Dear Graphic Arts Exchange visitor,

Whatever else can be said about the internet, whether in relation to the ever elusive goal of "e-this" or "e-that", or the tragedy of the literally billions of dollars that were lost when the 'bubble' burst, there has never in the history of man been a medium of communication that can even remotely compare when it comes to the transfer of vital information. It can open doors that weren't even conceived of just 10 or 20 years ago. It can provide a person in Hong Kong with access to the exact same information as a person in Dallas; in exactly the same format at exactly the same instant. Information that was once limited to a half a sheet of paper and distributed to 10 or 20 thousand fixed people or organizations can now be the equivalent of hundreds or even thousands of pages and reach literally millions of people; all while retaining the possibility of one on one communications and relationship building. And all of this and more can be done for but a small fraction of the cost of anything ever before brought to bear. If nothing else, that is the power of the internet today.

And the equipment market is the one part of our industry that has the most potential to take advantage of the internet. Because the internet is the perfect medium for facilitating the transfer of information from one person to another, and equipment sales is the one part of our market that is almost completely informational based, they are almost a perfect match.

That being said, I've got to tell you I am constantly amazed at the absolutely dismal representation of the graphic arts equipment industry on the Internet!

By all accounts, printing is one of the largest market sectors in the United States, a country who just happens to have the largest marketplace in the world. And the equipment market is a large part of the printing industry; yet it would appear as though this entire segment of the market just forgot about the internet. They wrote it off as if it weren't of any importance. They let the most important technological advancement in the world just walk on by. I just don't understand this.

So we created the Graphic Arts Exchange. This site represents a large amount of planning and study into creating a service that provides exactly what a person looking to buy a piece of graphic arts equipment needs to know, as well as what needs to be provided to an organization to help facilitate selling an item. We started with just a blank screen and a general idea of what needed to be accomplished and tried to encompass as many features (and improvements over existing services) as we could possibly think of. From the smallest little detail (like contact information at both the top and bottom of a listing) to the broadest possible outlook (like our Dealer 2 Dealer Network), there is very little that wasn't taken into consideration when we created our systems, our products, and our services.

And of course, there are the people behind it all. Without having an in-depth knowledge of both the printing industry in general and the equipment market in specific we wouldn't have had the faintest clue where to begin. So, to top off the impeccable presentation and functionality of our site, we assembled a small but knowledgeable group of people. From the owner of a new and used equipment dealership, to an ex- Heidelberg salesman, to the 'computer guy', the Graphic Arts Exchange team is a unique and highly versatile group. Because of our people, we are able to create and maintain a presence on the internet and in our segment of the industry that is simply unparalleled in the world today!

I invite you to take a moment to read on and learn more about our team. Then browse through the many facets of the Graphic Arts Exchange; from our dealer directory to the all important equipment listing service. I'm sure that you will find it to be a truly enjoyable and educational experience!

And of course, if you have any questions, feel free to click here and use our contact form, or give us a call toll free at 1.800.864.6130 today. On top of everything else, we're here to help you, so don't hesitate to get in touch with us!

Welcome to the Graphic Arts Exchange: Looking for something?

Devon S. Marrinan
Chief Operating Officer
The Graphic Arts Exchange
A division of Graphic Arts Data

Having spent the 1970's being educated - First with a bachelors degree from the University of Pittsburgh in economics and business, and then practical, on the job, experience in sales, marketing and organizational skills across a variety of industries - Mr. J. V. Marrinan has since labored for more than two decades in the graphic arts equipment industry.

The experience that Joe brings to the organization is both comprehensive and far reaching in several different facets:

First, his years of selling and marketing new and used press and finishing equipment from manufacturers such as Heidelberg, Shinohara, Komori, Stahl, Baum, Polar, Wohlenberg, Lawson, Saber, Prism, and more, throughout Europe, Asia and America, have been instrumental in the creation of a comprehensive, up to date, systemic approach to facilitate the distribution and sale of graphic arts related equipment.

Furthermore, Joe's years of experience creating, operating, and promoting a successful graphic arts equipment dealership have been one of the largest and most important assets available to the Exchange. By bringing the mindset of a traditional 'equipment dealer' into all aspects of the conceptual creation, design, and implementation of the Graphic Arts Exchange, he has helped us to create a presence that is unique within our segment of the graphic arts industry; a site that is designed to facilitate the transfer of information between dealers and potential customers in the quickest, easiest, most efficient, and most in-depth manner possible.

While our CEO's years of experience in the graphic arts equipment industry have been instrumental to the concepts behind our technology, Devon S. Marrinan brings the needed technical ability to implement and maintain the Graphic Arts Exchange.

Having graduated from Boston College with a bachelors degree in Communications, Devon has extensively studied and researched exactly what is necessary to help a person or organization communicate a message in the most effective manner both on and offline. When combined with the technical training and ability of over five years within the graphic and web design industries, this combination of skills has allowed us to create a smooth, well running, functionally proficient site that allows an equipment dealer to communicate information in the most efficient and cost effective manner.

That being said, Devon also brings close to a decade of graphic arts 'equipment' experience to the Exchange as well. Having come into contact with almost all manner of equipment in a variety of settings, from moving and rigging, to refinishing, to operating equipment both digital and not, to designing the finished product to be created on the machine, to working on the promotion and sale of equipment, he has combined a close understanding of all aspects of the industry into the design and creation of the site. His unique ability to see the entire communications process from both the dealer's and the end user's perspective, as well as an in-depth understanding of the methods in which information is communicated and exchanged, has allowed us to create a service that fits the needs of all users of the Graphic Arts Exchange.
